The Valley of Unrest by Edgar Allan Poe

Once upon a time the valley
was bustling busy
with city-folk men
women children
doing coming going

but now
now the valley lie
still
now the valley speaks no
such tales

because the men are
off to war

women and children
brought along for the ride
or left to hide
in some crevasse

until better times
come to pass

the valley lay still
accompanied by the reddened
sun
and mist

like magic
