The Lockless Door by Robert Frost

Many years did past
but finally
finally the knock came
on my door
my door which stands
ajar
for it has no lock
to be told of.

And so, I blew out that light
and tip-toed
gently
over the wooden floor
raising both hands
and offering a prayer
for the sake of this
lockless door.

But then the knock did
come finally and my
window was opened
wide and outside I
climbed
to enter the real
world with locks
and other security
measures in place
to prevent happiness
from coming and going
as it would like.

I descended down into the real world
beckering
motioning
come in and make yourself at home
he who knocks on this
lockless
door.

This knock bringing
me to my senses.
And so I let out my rage
this inferno
trapped inside me
voluntarily
but which must be
let go
for all ages
to know.
