Growing Old by Matthew Arnold

The and that
both grow old
Old Growth

a lustre lacking
a feeling of slacking
slacks held up by suspension of rubbery plastic
elasticism

Golden days show fog and haze
raisins replacing what once were grapes

The heart receives less blood
chiming now dull thud

A prophet of the past
out-lasted the rest
but for what?
