Eldorado by Edgar Allan Poe

Gallant knight
in the sunshine and light
journeying long
singing his song
searching for the one
the only
Eldorado.

But growing old
and weary
the knight still bold
overcome his
heart’s greatest
shadows
yet could
not find
that which was
the great
Eldorado.

Strength failing
chain-mailing
he then met
a fellow pilgrim
passer-by
a shadowy figure
sly
where is it
this land
this eldorado?
He asked
commanded

Why over the Mountains
and of course the Moon
Down the River Valley
of Shadows
soon
you will see that
which you are trying
to find this
wonderous place
hidden in the world’s
deepest crevasses
make no haste
Eldorado
awaits
you
brave knight
for why shouldn’t
you too delight
in eternal
joy.
